Zoya: Tanzy

I wanted to show you guys another Zoya polish from the Sunshine collection today - Tanzy. It is a really bright, fun orange shimmer. I love the finish (Zoya's flecked finish is probably my favorite polish finish. I love the irregularity). I love the orange with golden shimmer. I wish the color were a tad darker, but that could totally be fixed by layering this polish over a red base. Also - it is a bit sheer, but nothing that another coat of polish wouldn't have fixed. I'm really happy with all of the polishes I've purchased from this collection so far.

Ulta: Hot Spot

I didn't think I would like this polish... I never would have picked it up for myself - but it came for free in one of the awesome Ulta specials that was like, spend 10 dollars get a huge bag full of goodies. But I do like it. Before I put it on I wished it was lighter, but this darkness is actually fantastic. Its great for summer and fall. And I have enough light oranges. It has great shimmer, and a terrific formula.

Sally Hansen: Coral Amber

I got this polish after seeing tons of gorgeous pictures of Sally Hansen Prisms all of the internet. And I checked ebay to see if they had any.. and they certainly did. I found someone selling a lot of 10 polishes for like 20 bucks. So.. I jumped at it. This was the polish I was most excited about - a gorgeous duochrome that is mostly orange but in the bottle has a huge golden flash. Well - unfortunately it doesn't play out that way on the nail. It just looks like regular old orange. A very pretty orange - but plain old orange nonetheless. So this polish was a huge letdown. Hopefully the others will be better.

Oh and also, this polish was extremely sheer. I suppose these were meant for layering. This was 5 coats.

OPI: Black Shatter

I'm sure you've all read about this ad nauseum. So I'll keep it short. Yes, it takes some time to get the hang of the application - but by the second hand of my first mani, I had it down. Yes, it is awesome. Yeah - I would be grabbing backups like crazy if it weren't for the fact that China Glaze is coming out with a whole line of shatter polishes, which will be much cheaper than this 8 dollar OPI polish.
I added Black Shatter on top of my China Glaze Life Preserver mani, and kind of wish I had waited for a different base color to try it. Because now it kind of just looks like a Halloween mani that I'm posting super late. But I still love it.

China Glaze: Life Preserver

OMG I LOVE THIS POLISHHHHHHHHH. I really do. I love the color orange. In 9th grade my hair was orange for a good portion of the year and I got the nickname Cheeto, which I still get called. I love my orange converses from high school. I just love orange things! It is definitely my second favorite color after turquoise.

Anyway, this is a truly awesome shade of orange. China Glaze Life Preserver is part of their Spring 2011 Anchors Away collection. The whole collection looks great, although I only grabbed 4 of the polishes. But like I said, this is a great shade of orange. I think it will flatter just about everybody. It isn't too bold, yet it is clearly in the orange family. It is like a dusty deep peach color sort of. Maybe not so much in these photos though. In these pictures it looks very bright, but in real life on the nails it is darker. Love it. In both cases. Love love love it. I'm gonna wear this polish to death.

Hard Candy: Lava

Here is a great orange polish, Hard Candy Lava. The base is deep orange and there is a lot of gold glitter in it that gets coated in the orange polish. It is pretty neat. The first time I wore it, it was a bitch and a half to remove. But since then I've switched to using felt to remove my polish and I didn't have any issues whatsoever this go around.

And a not so good macro shot...

Claire's: Neon Orange

And here is the orange..

This was 5 coats. Surprisingly good opacity considering the rest of the collection. Still crappy looking though. What would possess them to put that heavy glitter in it? It just looks super lumpy! Not at all glittery. Dumb Claire's nail polish makers.

Butter London: Chuffed Gradient

After being inspired by All Lacquered Up's Butter London Gradient over Teal, I decided to see how these Butter London jelly's looked built up on their own.
This is Chuffed, the orange jelly. I actually love this color. Admittedly in the pictures it looks a little strange, but in real life I loved it.
I think this would probably look really awesome over yellow, or over blue, or over anything really. It's fabulous. I was hesitant to buy into the butter London thing, but I love the two polishes I have. I'm just waiting for some sales to get some more. Also... I couldn't find them at Ulta, but I'll have to look harder next time. I got these off of hautelook because they had a 2 for 1 deal that I couldn't pass up. These polishes go for 14 bucks a piece. Yeah, it's crazy. So if you see a good deal like that, grab them! They're worth it. The only problem with hautelook is that they now send me about 304847 emails a week.

So to do this mani, I started off with one coat, and then built it up to 6 while moving up my nail with the starting point. All Lacquered Up explains it better.

Anyhoo, I really like Chuffed. I love the shade of orange, I love the glitter, I love everything about it. I even love its sheerness, because it lets me do manis like this. Overall, a real winner.

Pure Ice: Hot Tamale

Okay - Hot Tamale. I'm not really a fan of the name.. because when I see this polish I automatically think of fall, and Halloween, and this mysterious thing that I see on TV where the leaves on trees change colors (weird! our leaves are pretty much always green. until they die. and then they are just brown. i've actually never been up north during autumn. Only during the winter when everything is frozen. I've really got to make a point to explore this country a bit more.) Anyway - so Hot Tamale. It's a nice burnt amber color. Very orange. Very opaque. This was one that I probably could have gotten away with one thick coat instead of two thin coats.

I wish that yellow shimmer that is so apparent in the bottle came out of the nail. But it doesn't really. It's still pretty though.
