Orly: Halley's Comet

Here's a polish that I really should like, but for some reason I could take it or leave it. Don't get me wrong, it's very pretty. I just am not over the moon about it. Maybe I'll like it better next spring, but at the moment I'm very into fall/vampy colors. I actually couldn't wait to get this off. Plus look at the shrinkage at the tips courtesy of Seche.

I do love that glass fleck/shimmeriness it has going on though. I don't know why I was so anti- this polish.

H&M: Mad About You

Oh H&M... you really got a winner with this polish. Seriously. Not only do I absolutely loveeee the shade of purple. But on top of that, subtle holo?? I love holo!! The holo is much more evident in real life than in these pictures. It is gorgeous! I wore it with a grey/purple shirt the other day and it looked awesome. Oh, and also the formula couldn't have been more perfect. This was 2 coats, and application was super smooth. 

The only thing I don't love about this polish is the bottle. Not because it is square, but because I can't get the fucking cap to line up with the rest of the bottle to save my life. It is super irritating. 

Milani: Hi-Tech

Holy crap this is definitely the most holo polish I own. Look at its awesomeness. All I can see when I look at my nails are rainbows. Its a total gay-fest, and I love it. 

Also, I love the fact that the base color is light green! You never see light green holos. 

I love the fact that the holo in this polish is in flake form. And I also like the fact that it is a little sheer. This was 3 coats, and there is still some of my nail showing through, but it isn't obvious. It's most clear in the picture I took in the shade. But I think the holo distribution is spot on. If there were more holo it would be too chunky and gross. This is just perfect. Great formula. It makes me want to collect all of the other Milani 3D polishes. 

Weird angles, I know. But it shows off the holo best. This is really what it looks like all the time in the sun. It is way too distracting. Definitely not safe for driving.

Sally Hansen: Going Grape

Here is a polish that normally I would be madly in love with. But unfortunately I hate it!! I don't have issues with the color. The color is gorgeoussss. But the formula fucking blows. I usually like Insta-Dri's. But this was a goopy, runny mess. This was the 3rd attempt at applying this polish. The other attempts ended with splotchy polish and globs hanging off of some nails. 

The application for this attempt wasn't too bad, but that's because I thinned the polish out with Seche Restore. I really don't think I should have to thin out a brand new polish. But oh well. 

I do love the duochrominess. And the shimmer. And I just think the shade of purple is gorgeous. Though I definitely won't be reaching for this polish in a pinch.

China Glaze: Frosty

Yay! I'm still super excited that my CG Holiday collection came the other day. This is definitely one of my favorites, China Glaze Frosty. It is so shimmery and whimsical. Veryyyy wintery as well. I love the flecks. 

This polish was pretty sheer, but I actually like it that way. It can be layered or it can be built up. This was 4 coats, so it isn't too bad (like some 6 coaters out there). And any time spent doing extra coats is absolutely worth it, in my opinion. 

So me this definitely looks like glistening snow. Like snow that has been melting, but refroze. You know, the snow that is incredibly slippery and you don't realize it until you're on your ass on the sidewalk. 

And in the shade.. Still fabulous. 

Orly: Viridian Vinyl

So who has Pokemon on the brain right now? Just me?? Okay, obviously this polish is only reminiscent of Pokemon in name. This was part of the Orly Plastix collection. I was super excited about both of the polishes I picked up from this collection (this and Retro Red), but unfortunately I'm just not madly in love with them. Don't get me wrong, they're very nice colors. But I suppose I'm just more into glitters and shimmers and jellies and nice shiny cremes. 

Viridian Vinyl is a pretty bright and vibrant teal with a satin finish. 

For future swatches I'm definitely going to stop doing the far away bottle pic because I think it looks weird. I'll try to take pictures as close as possible, like the last 3 pictures here. 

China Glaze: Make An Entrance

Here is China Glaze Make An Entrance. I picked this up on a whim while I was at Sally's a few months ago and hadn't worn it until the other day. Turns out, its pretty nice! Not a color I would usually turn to, but I think it will be great for nail art and stuff like that. I've been dying to try out this mani on Emerald Sparkled, and I think this polish will definitely be included. 

As you can see, a nice vibrant pink creme. It leans a little toward the purple side, but that makes me like it more. 

Sally Hansen: Lagoon

Well this is the polish that prompted me to try out the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Line. Because quite frankly, the core line that they originally came out with was pretty god damned ugly (with the exception of Commander in Chic). So anyhoo, when I saw the spring line inspired by beaches and mermaids and all sorts of pretty tropically things, I knew I was going to have to cave and try them out. 

So this was originally the only color that I wanted. It just seemed so fabulous on all the other bloggers sites. unfortunately, I'm really not a fan. Which is a shocker if you know me, because I'm usually all overrrr anything that is blue/green/sparkly/and shimmery. But I suppose my expectations were just too high.

In the polish's defense, these pictures don't really do it justice. They seem really washed out. Bizarre. The polish is a slightly darker teal in real life, with a hint of yellow/golden shimmer. The pictures on Vampy Varnish are more true what the polish actually looks like, at least color wise. For some reason this just didn't really work with my skin I guess, because it just seems blah to me. 

Sally Hansen: Sequin Scandal

When I was at Ulta grabbing some Bare Minerals (the best makeup in the world) I saw the new Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Fall 2010 display. So I grabbed the only one that really stood out to me, Sequin Scandal. I love this polish! Though I really wish it looked more like the bottle. But it is still pretty awesome. Very dark and mysterious. It looks like an extremely dark olive green or black base with lotssss and lots of golden shimmer. 

See how pretty the bottle looks??!! I just wish it was a little lighter.
