OPI: Last Friday Night

Here is the other super sheer glitter polish from the Katy Perry OPI collection. Last Friday Night is the blue counterpart to Teenage Dream. But Teenage Dream has better coverage and opacity, because it had more tiny colored glitter in the base than this polish does. I don't mind this polish with just one coat. Because you can't even tell it is a blue base.

But I'm not a fan of it at 3. I just dislike sheer glitters that are in an unnatural color. It makes me feel like I have some sort of disease.

But underneath Black Shatter it is a whole different story. I love it! I didn't think I would - just like with Teenage Dream. You can't really tell from these pictures but it is very obvious that there is a blue tinted base. And the glitter is phenomenal when poking through the cracks in Black Shatter.

OPI: Teenage Dream

I really really really like this polish. I usually am not a fan of sheers, but this one totally works. Plus sheer pink is always easier to pull off than say... sheer green.

OPI Teenage Dream is jam packed with tiny pink glitter, and has a good amount of large hologram glitter. Very pretty. I actually prefer it here with only one coat.

When using only one coat I think this is a great polish that toes the line between conservative/work acceptable and awesome/funktastic glitteriness.

Using three coats that whole conservative thing goes out the window - because it just turns into a party on your hands. But who doesn't love that?

And here it is with Black Shatter over the top of it. I have to admit I wasn't really a fan of Black Shatter layered over the two sheer glittery polishes in this Katy Perry collection when I saw pictures online. However after trying it out for myself I am in LOVE. I absolutely adore the sparkle that comes through the cracks in the shatter polish. I can't wait to wear this again and again. Unfortunately I only got the mini-collection and now after 2 manis and a pedi I am getting a little low on Teenage Dream. I'm going to have to go ahead and order a whole bottle next time I make a haul.

OPI: Black Shatter

I'm sure you've all read about this ad nauseum. So I'll keep it short. Yes, it takes some time to get the hang of the application - but by the second hand of my first mani, I had it down. Yes, it is awesome. Yeah - I would be grabbing backups like crazy if it weren't for the fact that China Glaze is coming out with a whole line of shatter polishes, which will be much cheaper than this 8 dollar OPI polish.
I added Black Shatter on top of my China Glaze Life Preserver mani, and kind of wish I had waited for a different base color to try it. Because now it kind of just looks like a Halloween mani that I'm posting super late. But I still love it.

China Glaze: Outta Bounds

I love the metallic quality of this polish. China Glaze Outta Bounds has that fabulous micro-shimmer in it that makes the polish seem like a liquid metal in the bottle. I love it. I never actually ordered this polish - it was thrown in when my Poolside Collection was backordered for like a month. But I'm super glad they threw it in. It is definitely going to be my St. Patrick's Day mani this year.

China Glaze: Life Preserver

OMG I LOVE THIS POLISHHHHHHHHH. I really do. I love the color orange. In 9th grade my hair was orange for a good portion of the year and I got the nickname Cheeto, which I still get called. I love my orange converses from high school. I just love orange things! It is definitely my second favorite color after turquoise.

Anyway, this is a truly awesome shade of orange. China Glaze Life Preserver is part of their Spring 2011 Anchors Away collection. The whole collection looks great, although I only grabbed 4 of the polishes. But like I said, this is a great shade of orange. I think it will flatter just about everybody. It isn't too bold, yet it is clearly in the orange family. It is like a dusty deep peach color sort of. Maybe not so much in these photos though. In these pictures it looks very bright, but in real life on the nails it is darker. Love it. In both cases. Love love love it. I'm gonna wear this polish to death.

Essie: Chinchilly

Here is the first polish I grabbed when I saw the Essie display at Walmart. I've been meaning to add Essie Chinchilly to my orders on 8ty8 or Transdesign or whatever, but I never remember to. So when I saw it, I knew I had to have it. And I'm super glad I do. I love these dirty neutral colors. I've seen some pictures online where Chinchilly pulls very green. And I have to say that I did not have that issue at all (although I really wanted it to pull green). I still think its pretty when it looks like a very deep grey with a tiny hint of purple and brown like it does on me.

The gorgeous grey color of this polish reminds me of the millions of cranes we have in Fl this time of the year. Here are a few that were in my yard today. They scare the shit out of my cats, which is always funny to watch.

China Glaze: Coconut Kiss

I have for you China Glaze's Coconut Kiss. I got this as an attempt to quell my lemming for Nubar's Pasadena Purple. I still wonder what Pasadena Purple looks like in person, but this polish did a pretty damn good job of satisfying me. I love it. It is shinny and gorgeous. Lit from within, heck - it lights up as if there are 5 spotlights on your hands. On top of all of its awesomeness it is part of China Glaze's permanent collection, and easy availability always makes polishes better in my opinion.

Claire's: Lonely/Loved

I'm not a fan of this because, as you can see there was almost no color change whatsoever. I do like the foiley shimmer finish, and the color. I just expected more.

Claire's: Happy/Earthy

Well I grabbed these mood polishes a while ago when I saw a bunch of them one day at the mall. And I have to say - I'm really disappointed. Maybe it is that I'm too cold. Or warm. I don't know. But for the most part these polishes don't change at all. At least the ones I've tried. I got 4 of them, but I only wore 2 and just didn't even feel like trying the other two. I'll definitely get around to swatching them one day. But probably not any time soon.
I also am not a fan of the finish. I know some people like the semi-matte finish (a la Orly Plastix collection) but.... for the most part I don't. Sometimes it really works, but most of the time I hate it. Well, here are some pictures of Happy/Earthy. My favorite of the two I've tried. Though that isn't saying much.

Maybelline: Brown Aluminum

I realllllly wanted to like this. And I do really like it in the bottle. I don't know why I don't like it. But I don't. It is a nice fall color though. Very shimmery.
